puppy really, really shy
He's now 10 weeks old. We've been trying to socialize him, but the number of places we can take him is limited since he hasn't had all his shots and the city is a dirty place.
This weekend, we took him to a friend's place in NJ and he hid the entire time and/or ran away from everyone who wanted to pet him--even the gentle, quiet ones. He does this with everyone in the city that we meet, too, but I'd always assumed that it was the street noise and surroundings were making him nervous.
Are we just trying to move too fast? Is it true that other puppies aren't like this? Someone told me this was the first time she'd ever seen a puppy hide like that and it made me feel really embarrassed, like I'd been a crappy mother or something.
